The Folklife Program cultivates and honors community traditions around the state by offering grants and awards to local organizations and artists. Since 2017, the Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program has supported the passing on of traditional knowledge by providing grants to teams of master artists and apprentices.

The Traditional Arts Apprenticeship Program is an initiative designed to encourage the survival, continued development, and proliferation of our state’s diverse folklife traditions, especially those that are rare or endangered.

Folklife grants are available to organizations for project support and operating support.

Tennessee is home to many outstanding folk artists who have mastered, preserved, and passed on their traditional skills.
